I just sent out the assignments. Please make sure you have received an email from gotexchange[at]hotmail[dot]com. If you haven't, tell me right away. I hope everyone is okay with their assignment. Most of you will probably not like all of the prompts you've been assigned, but I did my best to give everyone at least two or three prompts with characters/pairings they like. Since there have been misunderstandings about this before: you only have to fill one prompt, not several.

If you have any questions about your prompts, please contact me, not your giftee. If you have to drop out for whatever reason, tell me as soon as possible so I can look for a pinch-hitter. Don't just disappear without a word.

We only have 24 participants this time, so it's a pretty small round, which is why I would ask everyone to try their best to meet the deadline (November 29th) and not finish their fic two weeks late. ;)

If you want to participate in this round of the exchange, please remember to sign up by tomorrow (Friday). As always, sign-ups will remain open until I put a big red "sign-ups are closed" on the sign-up post.

Sign up here.

You should receive your assignment on Sunday. You can also still sign up to beta read for other participants.
[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
If you're willing to beta read for other writers, please fill in this form. And if you need a beta reader, don't be shy about contacting people from this list. They signed up because they want to help.

Beta sign-up:

Your name?
How can you be contacted?
What kinds of feedback can you give or not give? (spelling, grammar, style, characterisation etc.)
What kinds of fic (genres, characters, pairings) do you refuse to beta read?
Anything else?

Here's the schedule for round 14:

- sign-ups will open on Monday, September 28th
- sign-ups will close on Friday, October 9th
- assignments will be sent out on Sunday, October 11th
- obligatory check-in post on November 13th
- the deadline for your completed fic/art is Sunday, November 29th
- posting will start on Monday, November 30th

I know that will still overlap with NaNoWriMo, but that was unfortunately unavoidable this time. But at least it'll leave several weeks between the got-exchange and the Yuletide deadline. I hope this schedule works for most of you. And for those of you who can't participate, there'll always be another round next year. :)
[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
The last fics for round 13 have been posted. I am very sorry about the irregular posting towards the end of the round; I wasn't home much in the last two weeks and didn't always have the time. My apologies; that won't happen again. You can find the masterlist for this round here. If you catch up on any fic and art you've missed, please take the time to comment. This goes especially for anyone who hasn't commented on their gift yet.

If you repost your fic on AO3, you can add it to the got_exchange collection. Thanks to everyone who has participated by writing, drawing, beta-reading, and commenting, and a special thank you to [livejournal.com profile] yaakov and [livejournal.com profile] leapylion3 for pinch-hitting. I hope that everyone enjoyed participating and liked the gift they received.

I'm going to figure out a schedule for the next round soon, but I'm thinking that we could fit in another round this year, maybe with sign-ups in early October and a deadline in late November - that way everything should be done before Yuletide and various Secret Santa deadlines in December. Does that sound okay?

Any feedback and suggestions are, as always, welcome. And again, I'm really sorry about the messy posting towards the end.
[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
The deadline is today. Unless we've agreed on an extension, you should send in your fic/art by the end of the day. If you need a few more days to finish your work, please let me know.  If, for whatever reason, you won't be able to finish your fic/art at all, tell me as well so I can find a pinch-hitter.

Posting starts tomorrow with one fic/art per day. Usually I switch to two posts per day once everyone has sent in their work. Please do not post your fic or art elsewhere before it has been posted here.

And the usual request to all members of the community, not just the participants: please comment. Nobody expects you to read fics you're not interested in, but if you read something anyway and enjoyed it, it doesn't take that much time and effort to write a short comment to tell the author or artist you liked their work. And it should go without saying that you are expected to leave a proper comment on the fic/art made for you; not thanking the person who spent so much time writing/drawing something for you is incredibly rude.

I hope everyone enjoyed working on their fic/art and that you will all like your gift.

The deadline is in two weeks, on Sunday, August 2nd. Please reply to this post to let me know whether you will be able to finish your fic/art on time or not. If you have to drop out, please tell me now so I can find a pinch-hitter. Don't wait until the deadline to drop out, and don't just disappear without a word. If you think you will need a small extension, please tell me as soon as possible, but I'd appreciate if everyone could at least try to meet the deadline. If you don't reply to this post in the next few days, you'll get an e-mail from me. Obviously you don't have to check in if you've already sent in your fic/if you've already dropped out.

A few things to remember when you send your fic/art to me:

1) Include a header in the following format:
Title:
Author/Artist:
For:
Pairings/Characters:
Rating:
Words:
Warnings: (don't forget to warn for spoilers)
Prompt:
(Summary, if the prompt was rather vague)

2) Fics should ideally be sent in as text files (.txt). doc, docx and odt are also fine.

3) Fic writers: please include html coding for italics etc. Make sure your formatting works and that there is a BLANK LINE between every two paragraphs, i.e. that you hit enter twice after every paragraph, not just once. You have to do this manually. It is not enough to tell Word to leave a bigger space between paragraphs because that will not show up when your fic is copied & pasted on LJ. I know that should be obvious, but there's always someone who forgets about it and it makes fics pretty hard on the eyes.

4) Your fic should be beta read or at least spell-checked very thoroughly. If you don't know anyone who can beta for you, please contact someone from this list.

Thank you. If you have any problems or questions, please talk to me.

Sign-ups for round 13 close tomorrow (Friday), so if you want to participate and still haven't signed up, you should do so soon. You will receive an email with your assignment on Sunday (or Monday at the very latest).

I just closed the poll. About half of you voted for the next round happening right away, but since the other half voted for sign-ups later, I've decided to wait for a few weeks to accommodate as many people as possible. So here's the schedule for round 13:

- sign-ups will open on Monday, June 1st
- sign-ups will close on Friday, June 12th
- assignments will be sent out on Sunday, June 14th
- obligatory check-in post on July 18th
- the deadline for your completed fic/art is Sunday, August 2nd

I hope that works for most of you. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me.

The last fics for round 12 have been posted this week. You can find the masterlist here. If you catch up on any fic and art you've missed, please take the time to comment. This goes especially for everyone who hasn't commented on their gift yet.

If you repost your fic on AO3, you can add it to the got_exchange collection. Thanks to everyone who has participated by writing, drawing, beta-reading, and commenting, and a special thank you to [livejournal.com profile] thinkatory and [livejournal.com profile] janie_tangerine for pinch-hitting. I hope that everyone enjoyed participating and liked the gift they received.

Since this round was relatively small, I'm wondering if maybe there's a bit of an exchange fatigue going about? So I figured I'd make a poll again to ask you guys when you want the next round to take place. I'll leave it open for a few days and then set the schedule for the next round accordingly.

[Poll #2009341]

As always, if you have any suggestions or questions, let me know. And thanks again to everyone for participating. :)

The deadline is today. Unless we've agreed on an extension, you should send in your fic/art by the end of the day. If you need a few more days to finish your work, please let me know.  Please try to finish as soon as possible, though, because this round is rather small and I'd rather not have to give anyone a two week extension. I hope everyone enjoyed working on their fic/art and that you will all like your gift.

There are 28 participants this time, which makes this the smallest round of the exchange so far. That also means that I would ask you to do your best to meet the deadline because the posting period will obviously be shorter this time, so I can't give anyone overly long extensions.

Thanks to everyone for participating and have fun with your prompts.
