That's it,  the exchange is over, everything has been posted. A masterlist has been compiled [Poll #1796008][Poll #1796009][Poll #1796010]

Since this is the first time I've organised an exchange, some feedback about what you liked or disliked would be nice. Did you dislike anything about the organisation? About the sign-up form? About the posting schedule? About the way I generally ran things? Just let me know. I'm not saying that I will agree with every suggestion, but I definitely want to hear and think about them. ^^ Feel also free to leave any other sort of feedback on the exchange, if it made you discover new pairings, if you want to tell people about your favourite fic/art, whatever.

Oh, and one last question: depending on how much time will pass until the next exchange, would you be interested in participating in a kinkmeme or commentfics or writing challenges here on this comm to tide us over until the next exchange? I'm just asking because I wouldn't mind organising something, but there's no point to it if nobody wants to participate anyway.

Last reminder: the deadline is today. If you're not going to make it today and need a few more days, keep me updated please.  Posting starts on Monday, with one fic or drawing/graphic per day, so there should be something nice posted every day for a month. Posting will not be anonymous because I hate anonymous posting, it's that simple. ;) Also, comments are every writer's and artist's delight, so be sure to tell people if you liked their fic/art - especially if the gift was for you.
If you feel like filling more prompts because they inspired you, you can of course send me additional fic/art whenever you like and I'll post them at the end of the exchange. Additional fics don't have to meet any minimum word count either.

Thanks to everyone for participating. :)

Just a quick reminder that the deadline for the exchange is in two weeks (Sunday, October 16th).

If you will not be able to finish your assignment, please tell me as soon as possible, preferably now. Even a pinch hitter needs more than a few days to write/draw something. If you drop out any later than a week before the deadline, you will not be allowed to participate again if there is ever a second round of this exchange. I know, that's not a big threat. But let's just say that dropping out later than a week before the deadline is just a really dickish, selfish thing to do. Every participant wants to receive a nice gift that someone else put some thought into. If you have to drop out, at least give a pinch hitter enough time to make a nice gift for your giftee, rather than something that was quickly done at the very last minute.

That's why I'd really appreciate it if every participant who hasn't turned in their assignment yet (i.e. most of you) would just leave me a quick comment on this post to tell me that they're still around and working on it. I'd just like to be sure that you haven't forgotten about the exchange and didn't just disappear into nowhere. Thank you. :)

Other than that, go be creative. Remember, the list of beta readers is here. If there are any questions and problems, contact me.

One more thing I forgot to mention before: when you send your fic/art to me, please include a header.
Title:
Author/Artist:
For:
Pairing/Characters:
Rating:
Words:
Warnings (if necessary; please also warn for spoilers)
Prompt:
(Summary, if the prompt was very vague)

Thank you. :)

Edit: [livejournal.com profile] rachel2205 just pointed something out to me. I had no idea this could be a problem, but apparently it is: "I just ran a ficathon and a LOT of people are using new Microsoft Word which automatically inserts paragraph breaks. But when it's rendered into plain text those lines aren't there. So we had a bunch of stories where the paragraphs would not have line breaks between them. You might want to tell entrants to remember to hit return twice if they're using new Word even if it looks like there's a para break!!"

Here's a list of all the participants who volunteered to beta read. You don't have to use a beta reader if you don't want to, but I strongly suggest it. You can just contact any of them and ask for their help.

Be nice and try to give them a bit of time to read your fic, not just a few hours before the deadline. Oh, and please make sure you don't ask your giftee to beta for you ... yes I've seen that happen on fic exchanges. ;)

You can check out the sign-up post again if you want to make sure you don't ask anyone to beta read a fic about the character or the pairing they dislike most.

If any other members of the comm, who don't participate in the exchange itself, would like to offer their beta skills, just leave a comment and I'll add you to the list. :)

I have just sent out the assignments. Please make sure you have received an e-mail from gotexchange[at]hotmail[dot]com. If you haven't, tell me and I'll see what went wrong. I hope everyone is okay with their assignments. It wasn't always easy to come up with a solution that would work out for everyone, but I hope that I managed. In most cases, you probably won't like all of the prompts you've been given, but I think that everyone should have at least two or three prompts they should be able to work with.
Because someone just asked me: you only have to write/draw ONE of the prompts you have been given, not several. There are only several prompts so you have a choice. You can, of course, do several if you like. ^^

Go forth and be creative. As I said before, if you have any questions about your prompts, please contact me, not your giftee. If you have to drop out, tell me as soon as possible. If you want to yell at me for giving you horrible prompts, feel free to do so, but I can't change it anymore. If you miss the deadline without talking to me before, Stannis will chop off your fingers.

Oh, and I'm very happy to announce that we have 30 participants! I certainly didn't expect so many people to sign up, I thought it would be great if we'd be a dozen or so. So, thank you all for participating. :)

Sign-ups close tomorrow, Friday, September 2nd.

If you've been meaning to sign up, but haven't got around to it yet, or if you're just one of those people who do everything last minute, now is the time. Don't be shy. Even if you haven't written/drawn for this fandom before, or if you've never participated in such an exchange, there's no reason not to participate. It's going to be fun, and the more people participate, the more fic and art there will be for everyone. :) The sign-up post is here.

Thank you to everyone who has already signed up! We have already 23 participants. :) You will get your prompts on Saturday (or Sunday, probably depending on the timezone you're in). Once the sign-ups are done I will also post a list of people who volunteered to beta read.

Sign-ups

Sign-ups are open until Friday, September 2nd!

The deadline for your completed fic/art is Sunday, October 16th.

Sign-ups are now closed.

Sign-up form:

Active Email Address:

Have you read (all) the books?

What kind of gift can you make?

Fic and/or fanart? (If you can also make other things (layout art, icons, videos etc.), you can put it here as well, in case someone asks for it, but you should be able to offer either fanfic or drawn fanart.)

Preferred characters and/or pairings:

Characters and/or pairings you will NOT draw/write about:

What kind of genres can you write/what kind of pictures can you draw? (gen, romance, smut? het, slash, femslash? fluff, angst, violence, crack? Give me a general idea of what you can and want to do.)

Anything else I should know when I assign prompts to you?

What kind of gift do you want to receive?

Fic and/or fanart? (If you want something else (layout art, icons, videos etc.), you can put it here as well, but I can't promise that someone will participate who can make any of that, so you should also be okay with either fic or drawn art.)

Preferred characters and/or pairings:

Characters and/or pairings you do NOT want to see/read about:

What kind of fic/art do you generally want? (gen, romance, het, slash, whatever, see above)

Give at least three and up to five prompts/ideas: (Please keep it general enough for your author/artist to be creative! It can be a scene you'd like to see (e.g. "Stark family reunion"), a pairing (plus maybe a little prompt or idea), a character (plus a prompt/idea), an idea for an AU (what if this or that had happened) etc. Also, please don't post three almost identical ideas - your author/artist should have something to choose from.)

Your pet peeves and other things you DO NOT WANT in your story: (if you hate unhappy endings, or dislike AUs, or hate certain fandom theories - anything that your author/artist should know about)

Are you willing to beta read for other writers?

Are you willing to pinch hit? (That means, are you willing to fill a second prompt if another participant drops out?)

~~~~~~
- If your sign-up form includes spoilers (prompts like "what happened after character X did this or that in ADWD?"), please put a spoiler warning in the title of your comment. If you don't want to post your e-mail address here, just fill out the rest of the form and send me a PM with your address.
- I will send your assignment to you by e-mail, probably on September 3rd. Please make sure gotexchange[at]hotmail[dot]com doesn't end up in your spambox.
- Send your finished fic/art to gotexchange[at]hotmail[dot]com. The deadline is October 16th.
- If you don't want to sign up, but you'd like to participate in other ways, tell me. Mainly if you would be willing to beta read. And it would be great if you could promote this fic and art exchange in other communities. I will do so myself as well, but I'm not a member of every single ASOIAF community on LJ. ;) The more people participate, the more fic and art there will be. :)
Any other questions, comments, suggestions, problems? Have a look at the FAQ post, and if that doesn't help, just leave a comment.
Most importantly, don't be shy, sign up, and have fun. :)
