If you're okay with receiving both fic and art, please make sure to write prompts that work for both. Either phrase your prompts in a way so they can be used for both fic and art, or write separate prompts (i.e. 4-6 fic prompts AND 4-6 art prompts). That's far easier for artists than getting fic prompts and only an added "I like art, too."

If your sign-up includes spoilers (prompts like "what happened after character X did this or that in ADWD?"), please warn for them so other participants don't get spoiled accidentally while reading through the sign-ups.

Please try to have a little bit of variety in your prompts. It's perfectly okay to want only fic about a certain character or group of characters, but if all your prompts are smut for the exact same pairing, it may get really hard for your writer. Also, please don't request six incredibly rare pairings. Rare ships are very welcome, but I will have trouble finding someone who can write for you if you have six prompts with ships that literally no other participant offered to write (and similarily, I will have trouble finding a recipient for you if you only offer to write/draw pairings or characters that nobody requested). The same goes for extremely detailed prompts and crossover prompts: one or two of those are okay, but not six of them. As a general rule, please remember that someone has to write/draw one of your prompts. Don't make their life unnecessarily difficult.

Send your finished fic/art to gotexchange[at]hotmail[dot]com by November 29th. If you need an extension or if you have to drop out, please contact me as soon as possible. Don't just disappear. I reply to every email I get on the exchange account. If I do not reply to your email after a day or two, please assume that I did not get your message and resend it.

Please only send me fics as text files (.txt), or if that's not possible as .doc, .docx or .odt. Please include html tags for italics etc. in your file and check if your formatting works properly. Either ask someone to beta read your fic for you or at least proofread your fic thoroughly. If you don't know anyone who could beta for you, you can contact one of the people who signed up on this beta reader post.

Yes and yes. I generally prefer the books to the show, especially when it comes to how I picture the characters and differences in their characterizations. For example, Stannis charging into battle while yelling and waving a sword? No way.

What genre of fic/art do you generally want? I love gen and character studies the best. I also enjoy slash. I enjoy fluff at times, but I'm of the opinion that there are some characters you can't force fluff on. Angst is good when it's raw and tinged with irony.

NOTE: feel free to alter any of the prompts below. Use them for inspiration to write the kind of fic you want as long as it somehow features the characters, pairings, and stuff I like. As long as you write my favorite people in character, there's a damn good chance I'll enjoy the story.

[1] Board Games with Baratheons: Robert has no inside voice, Stannis won't stop quoting the rule book, and Renly finds everything hysterical.

I assume board games, card games, and "parlor" games exist in Westeros, or you can choose to do a modern AU if you wish.

[2] Uncle Stannis and Nephew Gendry

In some ways, Gendry is more similar to Stannis than he is to Robert. He's stubborn and taciturn, and he often expresses these attitudes with — as Arya puts it — his "stubborn" jaw, and we all know how Stannis is master of the grumpy jaw. Anyway, it's a total missed opportunity that these two never got to interact more. They might actually get along.

[3] Davos/Stannis (unrequited? that's up to you), Melisandre/Stannis (it's ~complicated), and Stannis/Selyse (#duty)

Davos is desperate to free Stannis from Melisandre's clutches. He has already given the king his loyalty, but he could give Stannis a another kind of service — his love — if only his king would have it.

idk, I just want to read a fic where my OTP Stannis/Davos crashes right into Stannis's canon sexual relationships. Please note that I do NOT think of Melisandre as a cartoonishly evil succubus. I think she's misguided and that her relationship with Stannis is demonstrably unhealthy, but that's the extent of it. That said, I'm pretty sure Davos has stronger feelings on the matter.

SPOILERS thru AFFC [4] Samwell/Jon: Sam returns to the Wall freshly maestered, and his new confidence and swishy robes serve as a forcible reminder to Jon that he's hopelessly in love.

Swishy robes is a joke, but I do think that Sam might seem different when he returns due to all his fancy new knowledge, training, and confidence. He's still the sweet, timid Sam that Jon remembers, but now he's all competent and shit. The Lord Commander won't stand a chance against that (especially because he was clearly kind of in love with Sam before, my evidence being fierce conviction that is not open to interpretation at all — nope, not at all).

SPOILERS thru AFFC [5] Alleras/Samwell: Alleras takes Sam on a visit to Dorne as his paramour.

I headcanon trans!Alleras (or Alleras who prefers to live and interact with the world as a man), but I won't mind if you want to write cis-woman-in-disguise!Sarella.

WARNING: Drug Use [6] weed smoker!Willas Tyrell

Someone please indulge my headcanon that Willas Tyrell uses a type of Westerosi grass (see also marijuana, ganja, weed, etc.) to cope with chronic pain. I imagine Willas finds smoking pleasant and soothing, but some of his more foolish family members might think of it (and perhaps use it themselves) as an indulgence.

How can you write a story about this? Well, maybe Loras and Renly are foolhardy goofballs who want to get stoned, and wise, subtly mischievous Willas offers them a devilish strain he knows they can't handle. Or maybe it's an AU where Sansa is betrothed to Willas, and he and Margaery gently reassure her that Highgarden grass is not as scary as Northerners think (despite all those reefer madness PSA's that Lord Stark commissioned). Or, maybe Oberyn Martell finds occasion to indulge with his friend Willas.

Your pet peeves and other things you DO NOT WANT in your story/art:
Out-of-character. Please keep everyone in character. Even if you choose to write a crack comedy fic for me, please make any humorous exaggerations based on the novels' characterizations.

I totally laughed at seeing "Littlefinger/monetary inflation" as one of your preferred pairings. An image come to my mind of Littlefinger greedily reading books by famous economists and plotting how he was going to use their ideas in his grand scheme to take over Westeros. Adam Smith's invisible hand? Littlefinger can SO do better than that!

I welcome throwaway mentions of Littlefinger's scarily sophisticated economics in any fic. It greatly amuses me.
