got_exchange | Assignments sent out

I have just sent out the assignments. Please make sure you have received an e-mail from gotexchange[at]hotmail[dot]com. If you haven't, please tell me right away. I hope everyone is okay with their assignments. It wasn't always easy to come up with a solution that would work for everyone, but I hope that I've managed. In most cases, you probably won't like all of the prompts you've been given, but I think that everyone should have at least two or three prompts they should be able to work with.
Because someone asked me last time: you only have to write/draw ONE of the prompts. There are only several prompts so you have a choice. Of course you can do several if you like. ^^

As I said before, if you have any questions about your prompts, please contact me, not your giftee. If you have to drop out, tell me as soon as possible so I can look for a pinch hitter. If you want to yell at me for giving you horrible prompts, you can do that, but I'm afraid I can't really change it anymore.

I also wanted to remind you that we have a more detailed beta reader post this time: you can still sign up and offer your beta reading skills, if you like. If you need a beta reader, don't hesitate to contact the people on that list, they signed up for a reason. ;)

Oh, and I'm very happy to announce that we have 35 participants, 5 more than last time. For those of you who like statistics (like me): 20 of them are first-time participants, the other 15 were already around the first time.

Awww, it makes me so sad to see this. I wanted to particpate, I really did. But I just couldn't. Christmas, work and a Secret Santa are kicking my butt hard core. Do you think there will be a third round?

I understand, it's a busy time of year. But I'm fairly sure that there will be a third round. Everybody was so enthusiastic after the first round, we have tons of new members and new participants, so I'm pretty sure that people will be all for a third round some time in spring or early summer. I hope it will be at a less busy time for you. :)

Fuckkkkk you! I lost three hours of sleep to a prompt, and I wasn't even going to start until the semester ended. This is getting so fucking out of hand. But who am I to pass up on some nice world (re)building? Farewell to my life, and all the Skyrim-playing I had planned...

Pfff, I'm just glad you like your prompts. :P But I'm the same, I hadn't planned to start any time soon, but I want to write THREE of the five prompts I've given myself, and I keep thinking that I should start early if I want to finish all three fics in time. ;)

Just kidding. Happily contemplating which prompt to write. Mwahaha. Also considering writing it soon but not sending it in until right up to the deadline just to mess with you. ;D

It's great. ^^ I thought the second exchange would be smaller than the first, but it's even bigger. I'm impressed. If the number of participants keeps growing, the assignments will probably drive me mad next time. ;)

I'm really pleased it's growing - I guess the fic it generated acted as good publicity. :D I will happily try to entertain you whilst you send out assignments next time (like I did the first time around). I think I still have more Daryl gifs. <

I'm so sorry for misreading your sign-up form. How stupid of me to assume that you like to write the pairings you've written before. You probably lie to me, too, every time you say you like my fics. ;) You actually despise those dumb pairings I write.

Definitely. When the first exchange started, the comm had 60 members, now there are over 300. Which is still not a lot, compared to other comms, but it's something.
I actually considered asking you before if you'd be online, but then I thought that's just too pathetic. ;) But I might have to ask for your company next time. ^^ Daryyyyyl.

I know, we all do that. Plotting madly, and then six weeks later we still haven't written anything and panic because the deadline approaches. ;)

Exactly, every time. The whole thing's outlined, the dialogue's in our heads, but it's always the midnight hour for these things.

Hey, I did this in college too. ;)

Only difference is that with my uni papers, I barely start thinking about them until a week before the deadline. ;)

I really hope I'll manage to write several fics this time, there are so many gorgeous prompts (my giftee's and other people's that I REALLY want to write).

Me too - I want to write 2 and hopefully this time it will happen!

(and I kinda want to write one of my own prompts, but that will have to wait until I see who writes what.)

I definitely want to write two of them, and maybe even a third one if I get a good idea for it.

I knoooow. I want to write all of my prompts at some point, but for the time being I'll just trust my gifter to write something amazing for me.

You can of course fill as many prompts as you like. :) But one of your fics has to fulfil the required minimum word count, i.e. 1000 words. If you feel like writing other ficlets afterwards, you can do that.

A beta reader is someone who proof-reads your fic when you're done writing, to find typos or mistakes that you may have overlooked.

Yep. So you can just contact any of the people on the beta reader list and ask them to look through your fic before you send it to me. :)
Sure, no problem.

If we decide to write a second prompt, is it also due on the deadline? For instance, if I write my first and get it in on time, can I write and submit the second after posting has begun?

I will post all the additional fics, if there are any, after the regular posting, so you can send the second fic to me after the deadline, yes. Considering the number of participants, I should have enough fic&art to post for an entire month, so you can take all that time to finish your second fic. :)

You should have enough time for that, I think. As long as I don't get the fic a week after I already stopped posting, all is well. ;)
