All entries for round 8 have been posted. You can find the masterlist here. If you catch up on any fics and art you've missed, don't forget to leave a comment. That goes especially for those of you who haven't commented on their gift yet - it's incredibly rude not to say thank you to someone who wrote/drew something just for you.

As a reminder, there's a got_exchange collection on AO3, so if you repost your fics there, you can add them to the collection if you like. I'm also working on setting up a tumblr for the exchange. Don't worry, the exchange itself will remain entirely Livejournal-based; the only point of the tumblr will be to make it easier for those of you who check tumblr more often than LJ to stay up to speed about reminders, fic posts etc. I hope this will help a little with the problem of people not seeing the check-in post or not noticing that their fic was posted until weeks later.

I hope everyone enjoyed this round of the exchange. My thanks to everyone who participated and/or commented, and especially to the pinch-hitters: [livejournal.com profile] leapylion3, [livejournal.com profile] schattenfalke, [livejournal.com profile] moderntrickster, [livejournal.com profile] breve and [livejournal.com profile] outboxed.

Here's the schedule for round 9:

Sign-ups will be open from January 13th to January 24th.
Assignments will be sent out on January 26th.
The deadline will be on March 16th.

I know that's fairly soon, but whenever I posted polls in the past about when the next round should take place, most people wanted to have another round sooner rather than later, so at some point I stopped doing that. I hope this schedule works for most of you.

Again, thanks everyone. And if you have any criticism about this exchange or suggestions for future rounds, please let me know. :)

Deadline

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
The deadline is today. Unless we've agreed on an extension, you should send me your fic/art by the end of the day. If you need a few more days to finish your fic/art, please let me know.

Posting starts tomorrow with one fic/art per day. I may switch to two per day once everyone has actually sent in their fic. Please do not post your fic or art elsewhere before it has been posted here.

And the usual request to all members of the community, not just the participants: please, please comment. Nobody expects you to read fics you're not interested in, but if you read and enjoy something anyway, it doesn't take that much time and effort to write a short comment to tell the author or artist you liked their work. And it should go without saying that you are expected to leave a proper comment on the fic/art made just for you; anything else is just rude to the person who spent so much time writing/drawing something for you.

I hope everyone enjoyed participating so far and that all of you will like your gift.

Oh, and I was asked to let you know that there's a new exchange just for ASOIAF smut fic. Head over to [livejournal.com profile] smutty_westeros if you're interested.

The deadline is in about two weeks, on Sunday, December 8th. Please reply to this post to let me know whether you will be done in time or not. If you have to drop out, please tell me now so I can find a pinch-hitter. Don't wait until the deadline to drop out, and don't just disappear without a word. If you think you will need a small extension, please tell me as soon as possible, but I'd appreciate if everyone could at least try to meet the deadline. If you don't reply to this post in the next few days, you'll get an e-mail from me.

A few things to remember when you send your fic/art to me:

1) Include a header in the following format:
Title:
Author/Artist:
For:
Pairings/Characters:
Rating:
Words:
Warnings: (don't forget to warn for spoilers)
Prompt:
(Summary, if the prompt was rather vague)

2) Fics should ideally be sent in as text files (.txt). doc, docx and odt are also fine.

3) Fic writers: please include html coding for italics etc. Make sure your formatting works and that there is a BLANK LINE between every two paragraphs, i.e. that you hit enter twice after every paragraph, not just once. You have to do this manually. It is not enough to tell Word to leave a bigger space between paragraphs because that will not show up when your fic is copied&pasted on LJ. I know that should be obvious, but there's always someone who forgets about it and it makes fics pretty hard on the eyes.

4) Your fic should be beta read or at least spell-checked very thoroughly. If you don't know anyone who can beta for you, please contact someone from this list.

Thank you. If you have any problems or questions, please talk to me.

I just sent out the assignments. Please make sure you have received an email from gotexchange[at]hotmail[dot]com. If you haven't, please tell me right away. I hope everyone is okay with their assignment. In most cases you probably won't like all of the prompts you've been given, but I did my best to give everyone at least two or three prompts with characters/pairings they like. Since there have been misunderstandings about this before: you only have to fill one prompt, not several.

If you have any questions about your prompts, please contact me, not your giftee. If you have to drop out for whatever reason, tell me as soon as possible so I can look for a pinch-hitter. Don't just disappear without a word.

For the record, there are 32 participants this time. Thanks to everybody for participating. I hope that all of you like your prompts and that you'll enjoy writing/drawing them.
