Deadline in three weeks

Don't forget that the deadline for the exchange is in three weeks, on Sunday, December 16th. As I said before, I would really appreciate it if everyone could try and finish their fic/art in time and not a week later. I will post the proper check-in post in a week, but if anyone already knows that you will have to drop out, please let me know as soon as possible. It's easier to find a pinch-hitter now than a week before Christmas.
As always, we have a beta reader post in case you need someone to beta for you. You can also still sign up to beta read if you want to. If you have any other problems or questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I'm sorry, please humour me while I ask a couple of stupid questions - this is my first time with this challenge... My attempt looks like it's turning into a bit of a tome. Am I right in assuming that writing a million words (well, not quite, perhaps) means I still have to complete the entire thing by the 16th? Also, if I want the story to be split into sections/chapters, should I submit it that way too?

It's not the end of the world if you need a few days more, but I would very much appreciate if you could finish your story by the 16th. I know this may not make a lot of sense to the participants, considering that the posting of the stories will take weeks anyway, but I prefer having all the fics so I know that people have actually finished. Every round there are people who ask me for extensions and then disappear a week or two AFTER the deadline, although they kept reassuring me that they would finish in time. And then I'm left having to find a pinch-hitter who can cough up a story in barely more than a week. So I'm just a bit paranoid, I guess. Now, if you realise on the 15th that you absolutely need a few more days to write the last 500 words of your fic or proofread it a last time or whatever, then that's okay, but please try to be done by the 16th? If that's anyhow possible? I know it makes me sound horribly paranoid, but this exchange has taught be to expect the worst from people. ;)

As for sections/chapters, I prefer to post fics in as few posts as possible, but LJ has a length limit for posts, so if your fic is longer than 8000 words or so, it will have to be split up into several posts. You can send your fic to me in one file, but if it's that long, I'd appreciate if you could include where you want it split up. You can of course split it up into more sections or chapters if that's how your fic works, independently from how it has to be split up for posting reasons. I think the longest fic anyone ever wrote in this exchange (so far) is this one (http://got-exchange.livejournal.com/16961.html), which was split into four posts - if you want to see what something like that looks like when posted. ;)

Not to worry, I will finish it. I've never not finished anything in my life and I've written fic in half a dozen different fandoms for years. I was just checking on how much flexibility there was with this challenge as the process is new to me. I've got something else on the go at the same time, you see, and I have this thing where I can only work on one thing at a time...

I'm guessing it's going to weigh in at over 8,000 words, but it's being told from three different POVs so it should be fairly easy to divide up. Thanks for the quick response!

Theoretically there is some flexibility because the posting goes on for several weeks, and it's never a problem if one person is late, but last time half the participants were late and that was a bit of a pain. If you finish in time, that'd be great; if you need a few extra days, please talk to me again a bit before the deadline so we can figure something out. Same if you have any formatting problems with the finished fic.
