The deadline for your completed fic/art is Sunday, October 16th.
Sign-ups are now closed.
Sign-up form:
Active Email Address:
Have you read (all) the books?
What kind of gift can you make?
Fic and/or fanart? (If you can also make other things (layout art, icons, videos etc.), you can put it here as well, in case someone asks for it, but you should be able to offer either fanfic or drawn fanart.)
Preferred characters and/or pairings:
Characters and/or pairings you will NOT draw/write about:
What kind of genres can you write/what kind of pictures can you draw? (gen, romance, smut? het, slash, femslash? fluff, angst, violence, crack? Give me a general idea of what you can and want to do.)
Anything else I should know when I assign prompts to you?
What kind of gift do you want to receive?
Fic and/or fanart? (If you want something else (layout art, icons, videos etc.), you can put it here as well, but I can't promise that someone will participate who can make any of that, so you should also be okay with either fic or drawn art.)
Preferred characters and/or pairings:
Characters and/or pairings you do NOT want to see/read about:
What kind of fic/art do you generally want? (gen, romance, het, slash, whatever, see above)
Give at least three and up to five prompts/ideas: (Please keep it general enough for your author/artist to be creative! It can be a scene you'd like to see (e.g. "Stark family reunion"), a pairing (plus maybe a little prompt or idea), a character (plus a prompt/idea), an idea for an AU (what if this or that had happened) etc. Also, please don't post three almost identical ideas - your author/artist should have something to choose from.)
Your pet peeves and other things you DO NOT WANT in your story: (if you hate unhappy endings, or dislike AUs, or hate certain fandom theories - anything that your author/artist should know about)
Are you willing to beta read for other writers?
Are you willing to pinch hit? (That means, are you willing to fill a second prompt if another participant drops out?)
~~~~~~
- If your sign-up form includes spoilers (prompts like "what happened after character X did this or that in ADWD?"), please put a spoiler warning in the title of your comment. If you don't want to post your e-mail address here, just fill out the rest of the form and send me a PM with your address.
- I will send your assignment to you by e-mail, probably on September 3rd. Please make sure gotexchange[at]hotmail[dot]com doesn't end up in your spambox.
- Send your finished fic/art to gotexchange[at]hotmail[dot]com. The deadline is October 16th.
- If you don't want to sign up, but you'd like to participate in other ways, tell me. Mainly if you would be willing to beta read. And it would be great if you could promote this fic and art exchange in other communities. I will do so myself as well, but I'm not a member of every single ASOIAF community on LJ. ;) The more people participate, the more fic and art there will be. :)
Any other questions, comments, suggestions, problems? Have a look at the FAQ post, and if that doesn't help, just leave a comment.
Most importantly, don't be shy, sign up, and have fun. :)
Date: 2011-08-27 09:27 pm (UTC)I don't blame you. I still haven't filled out the form myself, and I wrote the damn thing. I'm trying to come up with prompts that don't include Stannis. ;) I know it's fairly long, but I wanted to have enough information to get things right. I'd hate for people to end up with prompts they can't work with, and even more for anyone to get a disappointing gift because I did a bad job assigning prompts to people. Your prompts are just fine. The main purpose of the prompts is to give your author an idea of what you want, not to tell them EXACTLY what they should write. I'm sure whoever will get your prompts will be able to work with them.
That being said, that little Stannis prompt in there is gorgeous and fic exchange or not I might jump on it one day.Anyway, your info was very helpful and you sound like the least difficult person I'll have to deal with while sorting this out, so don't worry. :) I love how open-minded you are. And I'm half-tempted to come up with some crazy prompt about the Bloody Mummers now. ;)
Thanks for signing up. ^^ I got your PM with your e-mail address as well.
Date: 2011-08-27 10:47 pm (UTC)I blame you for the little Stannis prompt - I think your interest in him may be a little contagious.Yeah, you can probably just leave me to the end and give me anything. It's only one fic - it's not like I'd be selling my soul if I had to write something I didn't ship. (Also, just because I don't ship something doesn't mean I don't want to take it apart and then put it back together, just to see how it works.) Throw a Bloody Mummers prompt my way if you want - I'll only succumb if all 5 are about them
or to thwart you when I realise you actually just want to force me to write more about Stannis. ;DI'm looking forward to taking part! (:
Date: 2011-08-27 11:04 pm (UTC)Sorry. ^^ I don't know, in almost all my fandoms I end up falling in love with a character and/or pairing, and then I go online and discover that most people don't care about that character and ship other pairings. It happens all the time. And then I go and try to convert people, hoping that I manage to convince them that this character or this pairing is really interesting and likeable. It doesn't work all the time, but I'm happy whenever it works just a little.
Five Bloody Mummers prompts ... people will hate me. *crazy laugh* Especially if I want romantic fluff about them.
Btw, do you mind if I friend you? I really enjoy talking to you, here and over at the comment fic meme. :)
Re: [CONTINUED] plot spoilers for ACOK (marked within comment)
Date: 2011-08-27 11:15 pm (UTC)No need to apologise. You have found a convert in me! I don't mind it when I have an unpopular opinion. I get a bit fed up of all the Theon hate in GOT fandom but it makes meeting other Theon fans extra special, you know?
They would hate you! XD Particularly, yeah, if your prompts were like "what if the real reason why Shagwell, Pyg and Timeon were at the Whispers in AFFC was because they were having a romantic weekend break together? I want to hear all about their ot3 true love."
Friend at will! I've really been enjoying our mad discussions, too. I will, of course, friend you back. (I AM ACTUALLY GOING TO SLEEP NOW THOUGH. I PROMISE.)
Re: [CONTINUED] plot spoilers for ACOK (marked within comment)
Date: 2011-08-27 11:22 pm (UTC)Don't worry, I won't abuse my modly powers. I will be like Stannis and be utterly just. ;) I will have enough on my hands assigning the prompts either way without trying to give anyone preferential treatment.
I know that feeling. This "oh my god you love him as well??? I thought I was alone!" I'm afraid you won't convert me to Theon, though. I don't even particularly hate him, I just don't care all that much. Although I absolutely adored his chapters in ADWD, but even that was more for the writing than for him. Sorry. ;)
Haha, great! Now I only need to convert you to Stannis/Sansa and all is well. ;)
That prompt is hilarious. ^^ Not to mention that Vargo Hoat, Shagwell and Biter are the three heads of the dragons. Maybe they're even secret Targaryens? Who knows.
Yay! :D Okay, good night then. :)
Re: [CONTINUED] plot spoilers for ACOK (marked within comment)
Date: 2011-08-28 03:03 pm (UTC)Solidarity is important! But you are definitely entitled not to care about Theon. His tragedy just hurts my heart - he's never had a home or anyone to give a damn about him. Aah. Weirdly, his ADWD chapters felt as though they were heavy-handedly pushing for pathos for me - because I already understood why Theon did what he did - still I was so glad to have his POV back.
I am sceptical about Stannis/Sansa but we'll see.
The three heads of the dragon! Classic. XD Rorge was Aerys II's secret bastard, obviously.
Re: [CONTINUED] plot spoilers for ACOK (marked within comment)
Date: 2011-08-28 06:23 pm (UTC)I never cared about why Theon did what he did because I thought he was too much of a douche for my taste, even back in AGOT. ;) I guess he's just not the kind of character I go for. I just thought his ADWD chapters were beautifully written (the only time that GRRM's obsessive repetition of certain sentences did not annoy me), and I was generally curious about what was going on in Winterfell, so I was glad to get a glimpse at that, from somebody's point of view. Though I'm wondering what Stannis is going to do to Theon.
Do I need to convince you? ;P
EVERYONE is Aerys' secret bastard. Except for the people who are Rhaegar's secret bastard, obviously.
