If you're okay with receiving both fic and art, please make sure to write prompts that work for both. Either phrase your prompts in a way so they can be used for both fic and art, or write separate prompts (i.e. 4-6 fic prompts AND 4-6 art prompts). That's far easier for artists than getting fic prompts and only an added "I like art, too."

If your sign-up includes spoilers (prompts like "what happened after character X did this or that in ADWD?"), please warn for them so other participants don't get spoiled accidentally while reading through the sign-ups.

Please try to have a little bit of variety in your prompts. It's perfectly okay to want only fic about a certain character or group of characters, but if all your prompts are smut for the exact same pairing, it may get really hard for your writer. Also, please don't request six incredibly rare pairings. Rare ships are very welcome, but I will have trouble finding someone who can write for you if you have six prompts with ships that literally no other participant offered to write (and similarily, I will have trouble finding a recipient for you if you only offer to write/draw pairings or characters that nobody requested). The same goes for extremely detailed prompts and crossover prompts: one or two of those are okay, but not six of them. As a general rule, please remember that someone has to write/draw one of your prompts. Don't make their life unnecessarily difficult.

Send your finished fic/art to gotexchange[at]hotmail[dot]com by August 2nd. If you need an extension or if you have to drop out, please contact me as soon as possible. Don't just disappear. I reply to every email I get on the exchange account. If I do not reply to your email after a day or two, please assume that I did not get your message and resend it.

Please only send me fics as text files (.txt), or if that's not possible as .doc, .docx or .odt. Please include html tags for italics etc. in your file and check if your formatting works properly. Either ask someone to beta read your fic for you or at least proofread your fic thoroughly. If you don't know anyone who could beta for you, you can contact one of the people who signed up on this beta reader post.

What kind of gift do you want to receive?
Fic and/or fanart? I'd prefer fic, and most of my prompts are much more suited to fic, but art is good too.

Preferred characters and/or pairings: Pretty similar to the ones I can write. My favorite characters are Tyrion, Catelyn, Arya, Bran, Sansa, Brienne. Shireen. Pairings: Sansa/Margaery (my favoritest of favorites!), Ned/Catelyn, Jaime/Brienne.

Characters and/or pairings you do NOT want to see/read about: Not a fan of Dany and Co. No Greyjoys, Martells, Boltons, or Freys. No Stoneheart. Pairings: no incest that isn't canonical; no adult-child or adult-teen pairings (although teen-teen is fine)

What genre of fic/art do you generally want? I like mysteries, politics, and romance. I like stories with a lot of dialogue and plot - I prefer heavily plotted stories over introspective character studies. It would also be good to have something happy - I've requested these characters because I like them, and I don't want anything sadder to happen to them than already has happened to them.

NOTE: These prompts contain spoilers for Season 5 of the TV show and for the books beyond A Storm of Swords

1. Sansa/Margaery, political power couple! They have to sway the Small Council without anyone realizing that they're doing it. It can be set at any time during or after canon - I'll be happy as long as the story shows them as a couple, and doing their subtle politicking thing.

2. (SEASON 5 SPOILERS, TV Series Continuity) Canon Divergence: Sam and Gilly leave the Wall, taking Shireen with them to keep her safe. It can be on Stannis's orders or behind Stannis's back; it can be to go to Oldtown as in the books or to somewhere else; whatever you think would make the best story. What will make me happy is seeing Shireen being smart and adorable and maybe even saving the day. (If you are current with the TV series, you know why I want this. SO MUCH. PLEASE.)

3. Canon Divergence: Catelyn lives. For real, not as Lady Stoneheart. How does she get away from the Red Wedding? What does she do next? How does she regather her family and allies? (I'm OK with either book or show continuity for this.)

4. Why are Tommen and Myrcella so nice? What positive role models have they had in their lives that would make them turn out to be such good people? You can focus on either or both - I’ll be happy regardless.


Your pet peeves and other things you DO NOT WANT in your story/art:

Absolute Do Not Want: Explicit sex or violence. Rape, non-con, dubcon. Incest. Humiliation. Sexual relationships between adults and teens. (Teen-teen is fine.) Violence against children, child abuse, or other children-in-peril. Misogyny, homophobia, and other bigotry.

Would Rather Not Have: Anachronisms, excessive angst, the Five Things structure, plotless character studies. Also, no character bashing - if you don't like a character, just leave them out. (If the characters hate each other, that's fine, of course.) Most AUs don't do it for me.

I essentially want to scream F*** YOU! at HBO right now. If that's truly what's going to happen to that character in the books, at least it's still a long time coming and GRRM is going to have to do something drastic to make such an event possible.

I'll see those two cents and raise you a dollar or two. SO UPSET. I've been getting more and more done with the HBO show as this season goes on, and this may have finished me for good :(

Sadly, I agree with you. The show seems to like to use horrific violence as pure shock value over logic in way too many cases. Sure, the books can be terribly violent and depressing as well, but I don't think I've ever been so disturbed by them as I have by the show. :( Now more than ever I just want to read the books rather than someone's adaptation.

And thus that's why I like writing fanfic with happy endings.

Yeah :( I've been getting more and more disillusioned with the show this season. They're given the opportunity to make up their own plots, and this is the kind of plot they make? I really don't want to watch that.

So, yes, we will write our happy-ending fanfic, and make things turn out right.
