The last fics for round 12 have been posted this week. You can find the masterlist here. If you catch up on any fic and art you've missed, please take the time to comment. This goes especially for everyone who hasn't commented on their gift yet.

If you repost your fic on AO3, you can add it to the got_exchange collection. Thanks to everyone who has participated by writing, drawing, beta-reading, and commenting, and a special thank you to [livejournal.com profile] thinkatory and [livejournal.com profile] janie_tangerine for pinch-hitting. I hope that everyone enjoyed participating and liked the gift they received.

Since this round was relatively small, I'm wondering if maybe there's a bit of an exchange fatigue going about? So I figured I'd make a poll again to ask you guys when you want the next round to take place. I'll leave it open for a few days and then set the schedule for the next round accordingly.

[Poll #2009341]

As always, if you have any suggestions or questions, let me know. And thanks again to everyone for participating. :)

The deadline is in a bit over two weeks, on Sunday, March 29th. Please reply to this post to let me know whether you will be able to finish your fic/art on time or not. If you have to drop out, please tell me now so I can find a pinch-hitter. Don't wait until the deadline to drop out, and don't just disappear without a word. If you think you will need a small extension, please tell me as soon as possible, but I would ask you to try and meet the deadline rather than send in your fic two weeks late. If you don't reply to this post in the next few days, you'll get an e-mail from me. Obviously you don't have to check in with me if you've already sent in your fic.

A few things to remember when you send your fic/art to me:

1) Include a header in the following format:
Title:
Author/Artist:
For:
Pairings/Characters:
Rating:
Words:
Warnings: (don't forget to warn for spoilers)
Prompt:
(Summary, if the prompt was rather vague)

2) Fics should ideally be sent in as text files (.txt). doc, docx and odt are also fine.

3) Fic writers: please include html coding for italics etc. Make sure your formatting works and that there is a BLANK LINE between every two paragraphs, i.e. that you hit enter twice after every paragraph, not just once. You have to do this manually. It is not enough to tell Word to leave a bigger space between paragraphs because that will not show up when your fic is copied & pasted on LJ. I know that should be obvious, but there's always someone who forgets about it and it makes fics pretty hard on the eyes.

4) Your fic should be beta read or at least spell-checked very thoroughly. If you don't know anyone who can beta for you, please contact someone from this list.

Thank you. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to contact me.

Happy new year, everyone! Now that most holiday exchanges and secret santas are coming to an end, I bring you the schedule for round 12 of got_exchange:

- sign-ups will open on Monday, January 26th
- sign-ups will close on Friday, February 6th
- assignments will be sent out on Sunday, February 8th
- obligatory check-in post on March 14th
- the deadline for your completed fic/art is Sunday, March 29th
- posting will start on Monday, March 30th

I hope that works for most of you, and I'm looking forward to the next round.

As you've probably seen, the remaining fics for round 11 were posted last weekend. You can find the masterlist here. For some reason comments have been very sparse this exchange, so it'd be great if everyone could take the time to comment when you catch up on fics you've missed. It should go without saying that you are expected to comment on your gift fic - it's very rude not to thank the person who wrote something just for you.

If you repost your fic on AO3, you can add it to the got_exchange collection. Thanks to everyone who has participated, and a special thank you to the pinch-hitters: [livejournal.com profile] mautadite, [livejournal.com profile] yunie1281, [livejournal.com profile] crossingwinter, [livejournal.com profile] lareinenoire, and [livejournal.com profile] janie_tangerine. You guys are amazing and I can't thank you enough for writing an extra fic, and in a very short time, too.

I'm sorry that posting took so long this round. Unfortunately there was an unusual number of very late drop-outs, and a lot of other people just disappeared for a few weeks before they sent in their fic. I'd really appreciate if everyone could try a bit harder to meet the deadline next time. And if, for whatever reason, you can't meet the deadline or you can't finish your fic at all, please keep me updated instead of just disappearing and not replying to my emails. It makes my job a lot harder if I don't know whether I should be looking for a pinch-hitter or not.

That being said, I hope that everyone enjoyed participating and liked the gift they got. Obviously we'll wait until the new year for the next round of the exchange, since the next weeks will already be busy enough for most people. I'm aiming for sign-ups in mid to late January and a deadline in late March/early April. Does that sound generally good to everyone? I will post an exact schedule for round 12 in a couple of weeks.

Again, thanks to everyone who has participated, and don't forget to comment some more on this round's fics. :) As always, if you have any suggestions or questions, let me know.

That's it for this round of the exchange. You can find the masterlist here. There haven't been a lot of comments in the last week, so please take the time to comment when you catch up on fics you've missed. It should go without saying that you are expected to comment on the gift made specifically for you: if you haven't done that yet, please remember to do so soon. It's very rude not to thank the person who wrote/drew something just for you. I hope that everyone enjoyed participating and liked their gift. If you repost your fic on AO3, you can add it to the got_exchange collection. Thanks to all participants, and especially to [livejournal.com profile] vanaofthevalar for pinch-hitting.

This was already the tenth round of [livejournal.com profile] got_exchange. I had no idea how big and long-running this exchange would become when I started it almost exactly three years ago, but I'm so happy about it. I always have a lot of fun organising this, and I'm very grateful to all of you for participating, for writing and drawing and commenting and making this whole thing possible. As always, if you have any suggestions or feedback, please tell me.

I'd suggest that we do the next round of the exchange fairly soon, because I know that there are a lot of exchanges, gift swaps, Yuletide etc. at the end of the year, not to mention that real life gets busy for most of us around that time. That's why I'd like to have everything wrapped up before December, so everyone can focus on other things in December and we can just start the exchange round after that in the new year.

So here's the schedule for round 11:
- sign-ups will be open from September 1st to September 12th
- assignments will be sent out on September 14th
- the deadline will be on November 2nd
- posting will start on November 3rd

Btw, since summer is holiday time, if you already know that you won't be able to fill in the sign-up form in early September, feel free to send me an email with your sign-up info using last round's form. This goes only for people who absolutely won't be able to sign up 'normally' because they won't have internet access or whatever - I don't want to get twenty email sign-ups now. ;)

Also, for those of you who are interested, there's a new multi fandom femslash exchange. Sign-ups for that are currently open.

The deadline is in a bit less than two weeks, on Sunday, July 13th. Please reply to this post to let me know whether you will be able to finish your fic/art in time or not. Thank you. If you have any problems or questions, please talk to me.
[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
The poll has been open for almost a week and I think the result is pretty clear by now, so I'm closing it. About half of you wanted the sign-ups to open in May and almost as many people wanted to start the next round right away; only four people wanted to wait longer. So we'll go with the first option.

Here's the schedule for round 10:
Sign-ups will be open from May 12th to May 23rd.
Assignments will be sent out on May 25th.
The deadline is July 13th.

I hope that works for most of you. I feel like we should do something special because it's round ten, but I really have no idea what we could do differently, so I guess everything will be the same as usual. ;)

Don't forget that you can follow the got_exchange tumblr if you want to make sure you won't miss the sign-up post.
[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
That's it for this round of the exchange. Everything has been posted, you can find the masterlist here. I hope everyone enjoyed participating and liked the gift they received. If you haven't commented on your gift yet, please do so soon. It's rude not to thank the author or artist who made something just for you.

With the exception of one unexpected drop-out this round went exceptionally well and I'm very happy about that. My thanks to [livejournal.com profile] arcco and [livejournal.com profile] janie_tangerine for pinch-hitting - and of course thanks to everyone else who participated or commented. Btw, don't forget that if you repost your fic on AO3, you can add it to the got_exchange collection. And if you catch up on any fic and art you've missed so far, be sure to leave a comment to let the author/artist know if you liked their work.

A few rounds ago I stopped doing polls about when the next exchange should take place because the answer was always "as soon as possible", but considering how slow sign-ups were this time, I'm wondering if everyone is maybe a bit burnt out and wants a break. Or maybe everyone who skipped round nine can't wait for round ten now, I don't know.

[Poll #1963997]

If you have any feedback for this round or suggestions for future rounds, please let me know. Again, thanks everyone for making this exchange possible. :)

Oh, and one last thing: the mods of [livejournal.com profile] smutty_westeros asked me to let you know that sign-ups for the second round of their ASOIAF/GOT smut exchange are currently open.

Hi everyone,

Sign-ups have been a bit slow so far, so I thought I'd just remind you that you can still sign up for the next exchange round until Friday night. More participants make the exchange more fun for everybody.

Sign up here.

Sign up here if you want to beta read for other authors.
[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
I finally set up a tumblr for the exchange. Like I said a few days ago, this changes nothing about the way the exchange is run. If you don't have a tumblr, don't worry. All the exchange tumblr does is link back the posts here on LJ. But if you use tumblr more frequently than Livejournal and having to check LJ just for this community is a bit of a pain for you, you might want to follow the exchange tumblr.

http://gotexchange.tumblr.com

That's it for now, see you all in a week for next round's sign-ups. :)
[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
All entries for round 8 have been posted. You can find the masterlist here. If you catch up on any fics and art you've missed, don't forget to leave a comment. That goes especially for those of you who haven't commented on their gift yet - it's incredibly rude not to say thank you to someone who wrote/drew something just for you.

As a reminder, there's a got_exchange collection on AO3, so if you repost your fics there, you can add them to the collection if you like. I'm also working on setting up a tumblr for the exchange. Don't worry, the exchange itself will remain entirely Livejournal-based; the only point of the tumblr will be to make it easier for those of you who check tumblr more often than LJ to stay up to speed about reminders, fic posts etc. I hope this will help a little with the problem of people not seeing the check-in post or not noticing that their fic was posted until weeks later.

I hope everyone enjoyed this round of the exchange. My thanks to everyone who participated and/or commented, and especially to the pinch-hitters: [livejournal.com profile] leapylion3, [livejournal.com profile] schattenfalke, [livejournal.com profile] moderntrickster, [livejournal.com profile] breve and [livejournal.com profile] outboxed.

Here's the schedule for round 9:

Sign-ups will be open from January 13th to January 24th.
Assignments will be sent out on January 26th.
The deadline will be on March 16th.

I know that's fairly soon, but whenever I posted polls in the past about when the next round should take place, most people wanted to have another round sooner rather than later, so at some point I stopped doing that. I hope this schedule works for most of you.

Again, thanks everyone. And if you have any criticism about this exchange or suggestions for future rounds, please let me know. :)
[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com

Hi everyone,

Here's the schedule for the next round of the exchange:

Sign-ups will be open from October 9th to October 18th
Assignments will be sent out on October 20th
The deadline will be on December 8th
Posting will start on December 9th

I hope this schedule works for everyone who wants to participate. If you won't be able to participate this time, don't worry - there will always be another round next year.

As always, if you have any questions or problems, don't hesitate to contact me.
[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
That's it for round seven of the exchange. Here's the masterlist, so you can catch up on any posts you might have missed. Don't forget to leave a comment when you enjoy a fic/art - it doesn't take up much of your time, and most authors and artists really appreciate it. I hope everybody liked their gift. If you haven't commented on your gift yet, please do so soon. It's incredibly rude not to say thank you to the author/artist who made something just for you.

I'd also like to remind you that there's a got_exchange collection on AO3, so if you repost your fic on AO3 you can add it to the collection if you like.

I'm afraid we're going to have to take a small break until the next round because the next weeks will be very busy for me and I won't be able to spend an entire weekend doing the assignments. The sign-up post for round 8 will most likely go up in late September or early October, meaning the deadline will end up being some time in early or mid-December. I will make a post to announce the exact schedule next month. I'm really sorry about just imposing the next exchange schedule on you without asking for your opinions, but I'm afraid I have to do it this way for once. I hope the schedule still works for most of you.

If you have any comments or suggestions, if there's anything you disliked about the exchange or if you have ideas for improvements, please let me know. Either comment here or send me a PM/email.

Again, I hope everyone enjoyed participtaing, and keep your eyes open for the next round. :)

Edit: Sorry, I almost forgot to thank [livejournal.com profile] coaldustcanary, [livejournal.com profile] leapylion3, [livejournal.com profile] tmitnaiael and [livejournal.com profile] netgirl_y2k for pinch-hitting. You guys are awesome for helping out. :)
[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
The deadline is in two weeks, on Sunday, July 7th. Please reply to this post to let me know whether you will be done in time or not. If you have to drop out, please tell me now so I can find a pinch-hitter. Don't wait until the deadline to drop out, and don't just disappear without a word. If you think you will need a small extension, please tell me, but I'd appreciate if everyone could at least try to meet the deadline. If you don't reply to this post in the next few days, you'll get a pesky e-mail from me.

This will make reading your fic a lot easier on the eyes when it's posted on LJ.

4) Your fic should be beta read or at least spell-checked very thoroughly. If you don't know anyone who can beta for you, please contact someone from this list.

Thank you. If you have any problems or questions, please talk to me.
[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
That's it for round six, everything has been posted. You can find the masterlist here. Comments have been pretty slow this round, so if you catch up on some of the fics you've missed, it'd be nice if you could also comment on them. Some people haven't commented yet on their own gifts. That's incredibly rude to the person who wrote for you, so please make sure to comment on the fic written for you if you haven't done so yet.

Thanks to everyone who has participated this time. It was a small round, but I hope everyone still enjoyed it. Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] youremyqueen, [livejournal.com profile] kylathelurker and [livejournal.com profile] breve for pinch-hitting: you're all wonderful and I can't thank you enough.

I hope everyone is up for another exchange in the near future. Since real life is currently a bit busy for me and I'm somewhat less flexible than usual, I'll just go ahead and suggest the following schedule for round 7:

Sign-ups open from May 8th to May 17th
Assignments sent out on Sunday, May 19th
Deadline on Sunday, July 7th
Posting starts on July 8th

[Poll #1911427]

If there are reasons why this schedule is generally terrible (if it coincides with other ASOIAF exchanges or big bangs or something like that), please tell me. As always I'm open to any suggestions or ideas to make this exchange more enjoyable for everyone. If you have any questions or complaints, please let me know and I'll see what I can do. Btw, I'm thinking of changing the number of prompts you ask for in your sign-up to 4-6 (instead of 3-5), because my experience so far has been that people who only give me 3 prompts are incredibly difficult to assign. ;) Just a heads-up in case you already want to start thinking about your prompts.

Again, thanks to all of you for participating. Is there still any interest for the comment fic meme? I always enjoy it a lot, but there wasn't an awful lot of participation the last few times, probably because of the kinkmeme. But of course I'll post it tonight or tomorrow if you want me to. :)
[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
All the fics of round five have been posted: you can find the masterlist [Poll #1891992]

If enough people are okay with this, that's what we'll do. If not, I'll post a proper poll to see if the majority wants to wait until March or April or whenever. I'd also like to hear your opinions on whether I should post a poll again after the next exchange or whether I should just decide on a schedule and be done with it.

If you have any other suggestions, questions or complaints, please let me know (comment here or send me a PM/email).

Again, thanks to all of you for participating and making this exchange possible. The comment fic meme will be up tomorrow. It was a bit slow the last times, but maybe people feel more inspired this time. ;)
[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
The poll result wasn't quite as clear as last time, but there were still 40% for 'right away' vs. 26% for sign-ups in mid-November. Since the second option is pretty much the worst one from a modly perspective (because I can already imagine all the family- and Christmas-related drop-outs at the last minute if the deadline is during everyone's Christmas vacation), we'll go with 'right away'.  I'm aware that December is a very busy time for everyone, but I'm sure there will be another exchange early next year for all those of you who won't be able to participate now.

That means that I'll post the sign-up post tonight, and leave it open until Friday next week (October 26th).
The assignments will be sent out on October 28th.
The deadline will be on Sunday, December 16th.
Posting will start on Monday, December 17th.

Because there are always people asking me on Friday night if they can still sign up: the sign-ups are open until I put a big red "sign-ups are closed" on the post. Until then you can still sign up, even if it's technically already Saturday wherever you live.

If there are any questions or problems, feel free to comment here or send me a message.

For anyone who missed it, here's the link to the comment fic meme.
